AIMSAD has published the Woodworking Machinery (WWM) Sector Report compiled according to the foreign trade data published by TURKSTAT. According to this; While there was a decrease in production and exports, it was observed that there was an increase in imports and domestic sales.

According to the Woodworking Machinery Sector Report published by AIMSAD; In the first 5 months of 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year; production decreased by 0.54 percent to 150 million dollars, exports decreased by 5.28 percent to approximately 60 million dollars, imports increased by 32.94 percent to 40 million dollars and domestic sales increased by 10.53 percent to 130 million dollars.

In the period subject to the report; The ratio of exports to imports was 151 percent. In the first 5 months of last year, the ratio of exports to imports was recorded as 212 percent. In the January-May period of 2023, the foreign trade balance of the sector was 20 million 242 thousand dollars. Last year, this figure was around 33 million dollars.

IRAQ FELL IN EXPORT RANKING

WWM sector, which exported approximately 150 million dollars of machinery in the first 5 months of the year, realized the highest machine sales to Russia with 7 million 052 thousand dollars. Bulgaria took the second place with 2 million 279 thousand dollars. Bulgaria with 2 million 234 thousand dollars, Algeria with 2 million 172 thousand dollars, the United Kingdom with 2 million 103 thousand dollars, Saudi Arabia with 1 million 959 thousand dollars, Spain with 1 million 958 thousand dollars, 1 million 952 thousand dollars. Azerbaijan with 1 million 905 thousand dollars followed by Romania. Iraq, which is generally the first or second country to which Turkey exports the most, ranked 10th with 1 million 710 thousand dollars. China has not lost its place

Looking at the import figures in the report, it was seen that Turkey imported approximately 40 million dollars of woodworking machinery in the first 5 months. In the said period, the highest import was made from China with 13 million 814 thousand dollars. After China, Italy came with 10 million 270 thousand dollars. The third country to import the most machinery was Germany with 9 million 189 thousand dollars.

Germany is followed by Taiwan with 1 million 828 thousand dollars, Austria with 1 million 552 thousand dollars, Belgium with 500 thousand dollars, South Korea with 498 thousand dollars, Romania with 451 thousand dollars, the United Kingdom with 420 thousand dollars and Spain with  275 thousand dollars.
