Attracting the attention of the whole world with the machines it produces, the Turkish woodworking machinery industry broke the export record again at the end of 2022, once again equaling its record. At the end of 2022, the woodworking machinery industry increased its exports by 20 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and increased its export rate to 152 million dollars.
The Turkish woodworking machinery industry, which has become one of the important players in the world woodworking machinery industry with the high-tech machinery and services it offers to the market, can’t get enough of the record. The woodworking machinery industry, which realized the highest export of all time with 126 million dollars at the end of 2021, broke a new record by increasing its exports by 20 percent at the end of 2022. When the export figures are analyzed, it is seen that the total export of the sector at the end of 2022 was realized at the level of 152 million dollars. In addition, a total of 150 countries were exported throughout the year. The number of countries to which 1 million dollars or more is exported has increased to 45.
EXPORT MARKETS DİVERSİFİED İN 2022
When the data related to exports are examined, it is seen that the country to which the Turkish woodworking machinery industry exports the most in 2022 with 13 million dollars is Russia. Iraq came in second place with 7 million dollars. Iraq was followed by Kosovo, Bulgaria, Italy, USA, Georgia, Spain, Poland and Romania, respectively.
THE RATİO OF EXPORTS TO İMPORTS ROSE TO 188%
The domestic sales of the sector, which increases its production capacity every year to meet the demands for machinery from many different countries, increased by 19 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached the level of 300 million dollars. In the said period, the ratio of exports to imports rose to 188%.
Looking at the production data, it was seen that the woodworking machinery industry had a total production volume of 372 million dollars at the end of 2022. Thus, there was an increase of 23 percent in production compared to the previous year.
MOST İMPORTS WERE MADE WİTH CHİNA
When the import figures are analyzed, the sector imported machinery worth 81 million dollars in total throughout 2022. The country to which the sector imported the most during the year was China with 28 million dollars. Following China, respectively, were Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, Austria, Spain, Greece, Poland and the USA.
THE MOST EXPORTS WERE REALİZED İN THE MACHİNES İN THE OTHERS GROUP
Looking at the product groups, it was seen that in 2022, the highest export was made in the machines in the others group with approximately 47 million dollars. Sawing machines came in second place with 35 million dollars in the list of the most exported products. Planing, milling or die-cutting machines ranked third with 19 million dollars, followed by machines that perform various machine operations without changing tools among these processes, with 18 million dollars. In 2022, the least export was made in splitting, slitting or peeling machines.
IMPORT DATA ENTERED A DOWNWARD TREND
According to import data; In 2022, Turkey imported the most saw machines. The second most imported machine group of Turkey, which imported sawing machines worth 16 million dollars, was the machines included in the others group of 15 million dollars. This is followed by machines that perform various machine operations without changing tools among these operations, drilling or tenoning machines, grinding, sanding or polishing machines, planing, milling or die-cutting machines, slitting, slitting or peeling machines, machining centers and bending or cutting machines and merging machines.
